World Scientific Publishing and Chemical Industry Press will jointly launch Bioinspired Intelligent Nanostructured Interfacial Materials at this year's Frankfurt Book Fair in October.

Written by Lei Jiang from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Lin Feng from Tsinghua University and a Visiting Scholar at UC Berkeley, this book provides an introduction to natural and artificial micro/nanoscale interfacial materials, devoting attention to intelligent materials with special "wettabilities" which refers to the extent which such materials are able to absorb moisture.

Originally written in Mandarin Chinese, the book is penned in an easy-to-understand manner. It emphasizes the importance of learning from and mimicking nature to acquire inspiration in the field of developing intelligent materials. It is also printed in full color with more than 200 figures and illustrations.

Commenting on this collaboration, Mr Max Phua, Executive Director of World Scientific Publishing said, "Nano-materials research has grown significantly over the last decade and there are many research-related publications in this field in China that have yet to receive global attention. World Scientific is happy to jointly publish this translated work with Chemical Industry Press so that many others can benefit from the wealth of knowledge and information. We look forward to work closely together with Chemical Industry Press on other similar projects to give these valuable publications their well-deserved attention."

Mr Weibin Zhou, Vice-President of Chemical Industry Press said, "Since Chemical Industry Press signed the strategic cooperation with World Scientific in 2007, we have paid much attention to the cooperation and co-publishing a series of excellent books, including English and Chinese editions. Through helping each other, we will be able to march into the international book market; while World Scientific can have a better access to Chinese book market. We look forward to a win-win situation that this cooperation will achieve."
