World Scientific is set to publish Electricity Generation Using Wind Power in November this year in conjunction with a worldwide focus on climate change and green energy.
Authored by Dr. William Shepherd from the University of Bradford, UK, and Dr. Li Zhang from the University of Leeds, UK, this book deals with the use of the wind as an energy source and is written for electrical engineers concerned with the use of wind power for generating electricity. It incorporates some meteorological features of international wind supply plus a survey of the past and present wind turbines with technical assessment of the choice of turbine sites. Detailed coverage is given to the different types of electrical generator machines used and the electronic control devices employed in modern turbine systems with devotion of full chapters to the integration of wind farms into established electrical grid supply systems, and the environmental and economic aspects of wind generation.
Commenting on the book, Dr. Li Zhang said, ˇ°With an increasingly intensive need for clean and green energy, I am certain that this book will provide useful insights for those in the field who are dealing with electricity generation.ˇ±
Electricity Generation Using Wind Power retails at US$80. More information about the book can be found at http://www.worldscibooks.com/engineering/7703.html.
