World Scientific author Dr. Christopher L (Kit) Vaughan, has won the University of Cape Town (UCT) Book Award 2010 for his book Imagining the Elephant: A Biography of Allan MacLeod Cormack.

The annual Book Award recognises the publication of outstanding books written by members of the staff of UCT and carries a R30,000 (about US$4,000) prize. In the 25 years that the award has been running, this is the third book from health sciences to have been recognised. In its inaugural year of award, the winning book title was Waiting for the Barbarians by Nobel Laureate JM Coetzee.
