World Scientific authors Professors Jagadese J. Vittal and Koh Khee Meng have been awarded the Outstanding Researcher Award and Outstanding Educator Awards 2011 respectively by the National University of Singapore (NUS).
The Outstanding Researcher Award recognises researchers for their influential impact in advancing the frontiers of knowledge, and in positioning NUS at the forefront of their areas of expertise while the Outstanding Educator Award recognises the lecturers for their impactful impartation of knowledge to their students.
Professor Vittal received this prestigious award for his outstanding contributions in the area of crystal engineering. Having published more than 400 papers in internationally-refereed journals, reviews, book chapters and received more than 8,000 citations, his work has been commended as "fundamentally important and practically interesting". His forthcoming book Crystal Engineering: A Textbook is slated to be published in June this year.
Professor Koh has won 20 teaching awards from the Faculty of Science in NUS since 1994 and has published over 120 research and conference papers in reputable international journals. He has co-authored several books including Principles and Techniques in Combinatorics, Counting, Introduction to Graph Theory-H3 Mathematics, and Chromatic Polynomials and Chromaticity of Graphs.
