World Scientific's BCS: 50 Years among Physics Today's top 5 titles reviewed
06 January 2012, Friday - Leading Physics magazine Physics Today has voted World Scientific's BCS: 50 Years as one of its top 5 titles reviewed in 2011.

Edited by Nobel laureate Leon N Cooper, who is also one of the pioneers of the Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer (BCS) theory, and his colleague Dimitri Feldman, a renowned Condensed Matter physicist, BCS: 50 Years was recognised as a "successful attempt to capture the history of the development of superconductivity theory and its continuing impact". In a separate book review, CERN Courier further noted BCS: 50 Years as an invaluable compilation of content from top minds in the field of superconductivity, comprising contributions from outstanding physicists which included six other Nobel laureates, Philip Anderson, Wolfgang Ketterle, Anthony Leggett, Yoichiro Nambu, Steven Weinberg, and Frank Wilzcek.

Dr Kok Khoo Phua, Chairman of World Scientific Publishing said, "We are proud to have BCS: 50 Years among Physics Today's top 5, it is indeed a significant accomplishment for World Scientific as well as Leon and Dmitri, both of whom are distinguished individuals in the field of superconductivity. I hope that this award will continue to spur them to greater heights in their research."

BCS: 50 Years currently retails at US$65 for the paperback and US$135 for the hardcover. More information on the book can be found at http://www.worldscibooks.com/physics/7728.html. About the Editors:
Leon Cooper is a physicist and a Nobel Prize laureate who developed the BCS theory of superconductivity along with colleagues John Bardeen and John Robert Schrieffer. He received his B.A. in 1951, M.A. in 1953, and Ph.D. in 1954 from Columbia University and spent a year at the Institute for Advanced Study. He also taught at the University of Illinois and Ohio State University before arriving at Brown University in 1958. He is currently the Thomas J. Watson, Sr. Professor of Science at Brown, and Director of the Institute for Brain and Neural Systems.

Dmitri Feldman is an Assistant Professor in Physics at Brown University. He has several publications and has been invited to lecture in many top institutions.
