World Scientific Celebrates 25 Years of Publishing
World Scientific's 25th Anniversary Dinner was held on 11 July 2006 at Fullerton Hotel, Singapore.
Distinguished guests and authors included Nobel Laureate in Physics C.N. Yang as Guest of Honour, Douglas Osheroff (Nobel Laureate in Physics), Aaron Ciechanover (Nobel Laureate in Chemistry), Professor Tommy Koh (Singapore's Ambassador-At-Large) and Lee Khoon Choy (Former Ambassador of Singapore), to name a few.
More than 500 people attended the celebration, including World Scientific's partners, subsidiaries, agents, suppliers, staff, and representatives from the overseas offices.
The evening began with a brief history and future directions by World Scientific's Chairman Professor Phua Kok Khoo and Managing Director Ms Doreen Liu. This was followed by a speech by Professor C.N. Yang recounting World Scientific's journey over the last 25 years.
Guests were also treated to a video presentation (low-res | hi-res) of greetings and congratulatory messages from overseas clients and the eight overseas offices.
A lavish 10-course meal was served while guests were entertained by a series of cultural performances including Italian Opera, Chinese Dance, Chinese Opera and Si Chuan Bian Lian (Change of Face). Guests were also treated to musical performances by World Scientific's very own live band and singers comprising staff from the various departments.
A number of awards and prizes were given out, including the Tan Kah Kee Postgraduate Scholarship Awards, World Scientific Donations, and Long Service Awards for staff who had served 10, 15, 20 and 25 years in the company. The evening ended with a lucky draw of 25 prizes, ranging from laptops, refrigerators to television sets and holiday packages.
