East Meets West in 1st International Workshop for University & Professional Society Presses
The 1st International Workshop for University & Professional Society Presses was held in Singapore from 14 - 15 September 2006. Focusing on trends and issues in STM and Academic publishing, the workshop gave publishing professionals opportunities to share experiences and exchange new ideas. It also provided a much needed interface and platform facilitating collaboration, interaction and networking between publishers in the East and West.
The Black and Red color theme workshop drew about 80 attendees from the East and the West, including publishers from USA, UK, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Singapore. Mr Sonny Leong, Executive Vice President of Routledge-Cavendish, UK opened the workshop with a welcome speech.
Organized jointly by the Singapore British Business Council, World Scientific Publishing and Imperial College Press, the Workshop received support from the Economic Development Board of Singapore, the National Library Board (Singapore) and sponsorship from the Media Development Authority (Singapore) as well as RSP Architects, Planners and Engineers (Pte) Ltd.
